You can have Brain Stroke due to Hairwash in Beauty Parlour

Hyderabad: You may suffer a lethal stroke because of washing your hair in a beauty parlour. Although a rarity, it is true. A 50-year-old woman from Hyderabad suffered a fatal stroke because of having her hair washed in a beauty parlour. According to the doctors treating her, the cause of her sudden stroke was the angle at which necks are bent down in beauty parlours during hair wash.

When beauticians bend down the head of a client backward into a bowl to wash her hair, they unknowingly compress a key blood vessel that supplies blood to the brain. This pressure on the key blood vessel can cause a major brain stroke, which can also cause death.

Protect the neck:

This was first detected in America in 1993. In medical circles, it is known as “beauty parlour stroke syndrome”.

This lethal syndrome can also occur when a masseur in a salon twists the neck to produce a cracking sound. This can damage tender blood vessels connecting the brain, leading to a stroke, opine medical experts. The usual symptoms of beauty parlour stroke are dizziness, nausea, and vomiting. The Hyderabad-based woman had experienced these symptoms along with imbalances in her body.

So, it is time for all women to be cautious while opting for hair wash or neck massage in any beauty parlour. As a precautionary measure, they should request their beauticians to avoid putting extra pressure or force on their necks during their beautification or relaxation sessions.
