Vigilance Nets Balangir Govt Ayurvedic College Principal: Unearths 16 Plots, Crores in Valuables

Balangir: In a major development, Dr. Sudarshan Behera, the Principal of the Government Ayurvedic College & Hospital in Balangir, has come under the scanner of the Vigilance Department. Searches conducted today revealed disproportionate assets worth crores linked to the Ayurvedic doctor and his family members.

The Vigilance sleuths discovered a substantial list of assets, including three multi-storeyed buildings and 16 plots situated in prime areas of Puri district. Among the identified properties are a G+3 residential building in Sakhigopal Block Chhak, a double-storeyed building in Sriramchandrapur, and another building in Sorisiapada, Gop, all located in Puri district.

The 16 plots, scattered across Gop, Pipili, and Satyabadi in Puri district, were also part of the seized assets. These plots are spread across various locations, such as Bharatipr, Chhaitana, Sanagaon, Jaypur, Sakhigopal, Kasiharipur, Biragovindpur, and Samili.

The Vigilance department is currently in the process of measuring and assessing the valuation of these buildings and plots through its Technical Wing.

Apart from the real estate, Dr. Sudarshan Behera and his family were found to have Rs. 50 lakh in bank deposits. Additionally, the searches unveiled ownership of three expensive four-wheelers—a Honda City 5th Gen ZX, Mahindra Scorpio, and Toyota ETIOS Cross-G—along with a two-wheeler, collectively valued at over Rs. 32 lakhs.

The investigation is still ongoing, with the verification of postal, insurance, and other deposits. As of the latest update, the searches on properties associated with Dr. Behera continue.
