BJD Appoints Observers For 30 Districts; Pranab Das Gets Most Dists

Bhubaneswar: Eyeing the 2024 elections, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday appointed new observers for all 30 districts in Odisha. Meanwhile, Pranab Prakash Das, who is BJD general secretary, has got the highest districts as an observer.

As Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is likely to contest from the Dhenkanal Lok Sabha constituency or Sambalpur seat in the 2024 elections, BJD has tried to strengthen the party in Angul and Dhenkanal.

Das will also handle Sambalpur represented by LoP Jayanarayan Mishra, who has of late been firing salvo against the Naveen Patnaik dispensation. He was also appointed as an observer of the Keonjhar district.

Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak and Dibya Shankar Mishra have been named as observers for two districts each; Prashant Muduli, Pratap Deb, and Prafulla Mallick were named as observers for one district each.

Senior leaders Tukuni Sahu, Usha Devi and Rohit Pujari, who featured in the observers’ list released in October last year, have been dropped. Amaresh Jena (Deogarh), Rabindra Kumar Jena (Khurda) and Debesh Acharya (Sonepur) are the new entrants.
