Bolangir Woman Crushed To Death By A Jumbo

Bolangir: An old woman was crushed to death by an elephant last night in the Baghajharan village under Khaprakhol Block of Bolangir, in yet another case of human-animal conflict.

Basanti Angaria has been identified as the deceased.

At around 9 PM last night, an elephant attacked Basanti as she was heading to heed to nature’s call.

She as a result suffered severe injuries and passed away immediately.

After receiving the information, police and forest officials went to the scene and recovered the body before taking it to a local hospital for a post-mortem.

Notably, yesterday at Lathor village in Khaprakhol Block, two enormous tuskers from the Komna area in the neighbouring Nuapada district were observed roaming.

The forest officials attempted to fend off two elephants after learning this information from the people and cut off the power supply for their protection.
