Odisha’s BSKY Clinches National SKOCH Gold Award for Excellence in Healthcare

New Delhi: Odisha’s flagship healthcare initiative, the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), has clinched the prestigious National SKOCH Gold Award for 2023. Recognized for its innovation, inclusivity, transparency, and effectiveness in the health sector, BSKY has significantly transformed healthcare accessibility across the state.

At the award ceremony held in New Delhi, D Brundha, CEO of the State Health Assurance Society (SHAS), along with officials from the Health & Family Welfare Department, received the accolade from Sameer Kochhar, Chairman of SKOCH.

Under BSKY Component-1, all 119.8 lakh families in Odisha receive free universal treatment, including high-end pathological tests, at government health facilities. Additionally, Component-2 extends cashless treatment to 99.3 lakh economically vulnerable families, covering approximately 3.56 crore individuals, in empanelled hospitals both within and outside the state.

BSKY’s network now encompasses 816 private sector super speciality hospitals across 17 states, demonstrating its comprehensive reach and impact.

Shalini Pandit, Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, commended the BSKY team for their efforts and urged them to continue serving the people diligently round-the-clock.

This isn’t the first time BSKY has been recognized by SKOCH; it previously secured the SKOCH Gold Award in 2019.
