Congress Appoints Dr. Ajoy Kumar as New Odisha In-Charge, Announces Key Leadership Changes

Bhubaneswar: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has appointed Dr. Ajoy Kumar as the new in-charge of the Congress party in Odisha. This announcement comes from AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, as conveyed in a notification issued by the party’s general secretary (organization) KC Venugopal on Saturday.

Dr. Ajoy Kumar takes over the role from A Chellakumar, assuming the responsibilities as the party’s Odisha in-charge. Additionally, Dr. Kumar has been assigned the additional charge of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, as stated in the official notification. In his place, A Chellakumar has been appointed as the new Congress in-charge for Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh.

Dr. Ajoy Kumar, a former IPS officer, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He had previously served as the president of the Congress party in Jharkhand and has also represented the Jamshedpur constituency in the Lok Sabha in a neighboring state.

It is pertinent to mention here that Dr. Kumar holds a medical background, being a trained doctor with an MBBS degree obtained from a medical college in Puducherry in 1985.
