Dharmendra Lashes Out At Odisha Govt Over Law And Order Situation In State

Bhubaneswar: Even though Seven days have passed since the gruesome killing of Health Minister Naba Das, the Crime Branch is yet to make any headway in the case.

However, the allegations by the Opposition BJP & Congress have further heated up the political landscape.

Meanwhile, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday lashed out at the Odisha government.

Pradhan slammed the state government over apparent lawlessness in the state which saw a policeman pulling the trigger on Health Minister Naba Das in broad daylight.

“There is absolutely no place for violence in democracy. But unfortunately, nobody has any answer why the police personnel (now dismissed) was forced to shoot the minister from point-blank range. And, the DGP’s statement that only Lord Jagannath knows, speaks volumes about the law and order situation in the state. The DGP is trying to escape by taking the name of Lord Jagannath which is totally unacceptable,” said Pradhan.

“How would you explain a cop using his service revolver to shoot a cabinet minister from close range?” he asked.

The Union Minister also questioned the appointment of a retired judge to monitor the Crime Branch probe. “He has not been appointed under the Commission Act. Instead, the state government wrote to the HC registrar and a retired judge was given the charge. But we know nothing about the power given to him,” he said.
