Tennis Sensation Debasis Sahoo Wins Ekalabya Puraskar 2023; Bapi Hansda & Jyoshna Sabar also Honoured

Bhubaneswar: The Ekalabya Puraskar 2023 awardees have been announced, with renowned international tennis player Debasis Sahoo being selected as the recipient of the prestigious award. Athlete Bapi Hansda and weightlifter Jyoshna Sabar will also be honoured for their outstanding achievements in both national and international events.

The Ekalabya Puraskar is Odisha’s most prestigious sports award and is given annually to young athletes from the state for their remarkable achievements over the past two years. The award aims to inspire young athletes from the state to excel on the global stage.

Debasis Sahoo is a rising star in tennis, with four international titles and an impressive 11 national titles to his name. He will receive a cash award of Rs 5 lakh along with a citation during the award ceremony.

Bapi Hansda is an athlete who has represented India in several international competitions. He will be awarded Rs 1 lakh in addition to a citation.

Jyoshna Sabar is a weightlifter who has won several medals at national and international competitions. She will also be awarded Rs 1 lakh in addition to a citation.

The award ceremony will be held at a later date.
