Former Captain Dilip Tirkey Elected As President Of Hockey India

Bhubaneswar: Former India captain and Olympian Dilip Tirkey has been elected as Hockey India (HI) president.

Tirkey was elected unopposed after two others, who had filed nominations for the top post, withdrew their nominations.

It is pertinent to mention here that Dilip Tirkey holds the Indian record with 412 international games between 1995 and 2010.

Hailing the officials and FIH for conducting smooth elections, Tirkey tweeted, “ I will ensure that Indian hockey reaches new heights.”

Tirkey is currently serving as the chairperson of the Odisha Hockey Promotion Council. He is also a former member of the Rajya Sabha, the Upper house of the Indian Parliament.
