India Successfully Conducts Training Launch Of IRBM Agni-3

Bhadrak: India successfully conducted a training launch of the Agni-3 intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) from APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha on Wednesday. The effective test was a component of regular user training launches conducted by the Strategic Forces Command. The launch was conducted to test the system’s operational characteristics over a predefined range.

The Agni series now has 5 missiles with the Agni-5 having the longest striking range of 5,000 km, the Agni-1 (700 km), Agni-2 (2,000 km), Agni-3 (3,000 km), and the Agni-4 (4,000 km).

The worry was that if an opponent saw a short-range ballistic missile launch, they may become alarmed and conduct a nuclear attack in response. Even though the Indian Army rejected the missile, it drew the attention of a few foreign nations, who are now approaching India to import it.

India can easily take care of targets between 30 and 5,000 km away thanks to the Agni series of missiles and the tactical cruise missile BrahMos. The BrahMos can destroy targets from 30 to 300 kilometres away.
