Odisha DGP Suspends Kantabanji SDPO Hrusikesh Meher

Bolangir: Kantabanji SDPO Hrusikesh Meher has been placed under suspension on Monday in connection with the seizure of huge cash from a lodge in Bolangir. DG Police Sunil Kumar Bansal took this decision.

Meher was earlier transferred after questions were raised on the recovery of cash. A total of Rs 58 lakh was recovered from the Annapurna Lodge in September.

Police during a media brief informed that the cash was seized from the gamblers. However, further investigation revealed that it was not a case of gambling but rather a bid to hire migrant labourers from the district.

A total of seven persons from Andhra Pradesh were detained in this connection. Investigation revealed that it was not a case of gambling but an attempt to hire migrant labourers from the district.

During the same period, Rs 20 lakh was found at the police station, packed in a briefcase.
