Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has approved 12 industrial projects with a cumulative investment of Rs 84,918.75 crore. These projects are expected to create employment opportunities for 42,281 people across various sectors.
The projects include Welspun Living Limited’s Rs 3,050 crore integrated textile and logistics facility in Cuttack, Welspun Corp Limited’s Rs 3,137 crore steel downstream project in Sambalpur, and Welspun New Energy Limited’s Rs 13,860 crore green ammonia unit in Kendrapara.
Other projects include Sembcorp Green Hydrogen India Private Limited’s Rs 13,000 crore green ammonia unit in Ganjam, ReNew E-Fuels Private Limited’s Rs 10,005 crore green hydrogen and green methanol unit in Malkangiri and Rayagada, Tata Steel’s Rs 10,351.11 crore HR and CR coil plant in Dhenkanal, and Orissa Metallurgical Industry Private Limited’s Rs 5,200 crore integrated steel plant in Jharsuguda.
The government has also approved BMW Industries Limited’s Rs 1,094.82 crore production plant in Jajpur, NTPC Limited’s Rs 9,208.36 crore 800 MW super thermal power plant in Sundargarh, Ind Barath Energy Utkal Limited’s Rs 6,012.46 crore ultra-supercritical coal-fired thermal power project in Jharsuguda, and Aegis Vopak’s Rs 1,000 crore greenfield tank storage facility in Ganjam.
These projects are expected to boost Odisha’s manufacturing capabilities in key sectors such as apparel and textiles, green hydrogen, steel, power and renewable energy, and chemical and petrochemical downstream.
