Odisha Govt Allocates ₹42.51 Crore for Renovation of 26 Ancient Shrines in Ganjam

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has sanctioned Rs 42.51 crore for the renovation, restoration, and reconstruction of 26 ancient shrines in the Ganjam district. These temples hold historical and cultural significance and are spread across 12 assembly constituencies in Ganjam.

The renovation project will include the repair and renovation of temple structures, the construction of amenities for pilgrims, and provisions for drinking water and illumination. The Works Department will oversee the project, and tendering processes are currently underway.

This initiative is part of the government’s larger temple revitalization program, which aims to preserve and promote the state’s rich cultural heritage. Previously, the government had sanctioned Rs 48.97 crore for the renovation of 997 village temples in Ganjam district. Panchayats are also encouraged to develop temple infrastructure under the ‘Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha’ scheme.
