Police Seize 2 Trucks Carrying Beef & Cattle in Odisha’s Khordha, 5 Detained

Khordha: Khordha Police on Sunday seized two trucks engaged in illegal activities, busting a cattle smuggling ring and intercepting a beef transport operation. Five individuals have been detained for interrogation in connection with these incidents.

In the early hours of Sunday, cow vigilantes intercepted a container truck carrying approximately 18 cattle at a petrol pump near Barunei on National Highway 16. Suspecting illegal activity, they handed the truck over to the Khordha Model Police. Initial investigations revealed the truck was en route to Hyderabad from Kolkata, raising concerns about a potential cattle smuggling network operating across state lines.

Hot on the heels of the cattle bust, Khordha Industrial Police scored another significant victory this morning. Acting on a tip-off, they apprehended a truck laden with beef, travelling from Hyderabad to Kolkata. This timely intervention effectively thwarted the illegal transport of meat products, potentially preventing health risks associated with unregulated meat transportation.
