Odisha Braces for Rain as Low-Pressure System Develops

Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure system is expected to develop over the southeast Bay of Bengal around November 14, and has the potential to intensify into a depression by November 16, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The IMD has predicted significant rainfall in various districts of Odisha next week.

The low-pressure area is anticipated to move west-northwestwards, affecting southern districts of Odisha with rainfall starting from November 15. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected in specific areas of South Coastal Odisha, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, and one or two places in North Coastal Odisha between November 15 and 16.

On November 16 and 17, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely in Coastal Odisha, and one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.

On November 17 and 18, the forecast extends to include North Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Angul, Khordha, Puri, and one or two places in the remaining districts of South Coastal Odisha, Kandhamal, Boudh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, and Sundargarh.
