Woman Robbed of Gold Jewellery at Gunpoint in Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: In a brazen incident on Friday, three miscreants committed a daring robbery, looting gold jewellery from a woman at gunpoint in Odisha’s Balasore district. The victim, Sumitra Choudhury, was targeted as she was returning home on a bike with her nephew Vivek Choudhry near Barahampur village.

The incident unfolded in the Tinkoshia forest along State Highway 19 when the miscreants, with faces concealed, intercepted the pair on their bike. The criminals, riding their bikes, threatened Sumitra’s minor son with a gun and forcibly took away her gold necklace, earrings, and bangles. Subsequently, they fled towards Nilagiri.

Vivek Choudhry immediately reported the incident to the Nilagiri police station, prompting an immediate investigation. The police team has acquired CCTV footage from nearby shops along the route, aiming to gather crucial evidence in pursuit of the culprits.

Expressing growing concern over the recurring incidents of snatching in the forest area along the state highway in Nilagiri, locals are demanding increased police patrolling to deter such criminal activities.
