Bihar withdraws General Consent from CBI

Patna: As the BJP-led government at the Center is misusing the CBI for political gains, leaders of the ruling Mahagathbandhan in Bihar have decided to withdraw the general consent given to the Central Investigative Agency. Under Section 6 of the Delhi Special Police Establishment (DSPE) Act, 1946, the CBI requires the consent of that government to investigate within a state.

Earlier, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Meghalaya have taken back general consent from CBI. RJD leader Shivanand Tiwari said that BJP is targeting its political rivals by central agencies like CBI. Therefore, the Mahagathbandhan government must withdraw the general consent from the CBI. The RJD leader said that central investigative agencies have lost their credibility during the NDA regime. The JD(U) said that this is the perfect time to withdraw the consent.
