Manoj Tiwary Announces Retirement From All Forms Of Cricket, Embraces Political Role

Kolkata: Former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary has announced his retirement from all forms of the game. The 37-year-old, who represented India in 12 ODIs and 3 T20Is, ended his First-Class career with Bengal in the 2022-23 season.

Tiwary was a prolific run-scorer in domestic cricket, amassing 9,908 runs in 194 First-Class matches at an average of 48.56. He also scored 5,581 runs in 169 List A matches at an average of 42.28.

Tiwary’s international career was hampered by injuries and competition from other batsmen, but he did score a memorable century against West Indies in 2011. He was also part of Kolkata Knight Riders’ maiden IPL title win in 2012.

In a statement, Tiwary thanked his family, coaches, teammates, and fans for their support throughout his career. He said that he would now focus on his political career, having been elected as a minister in the West Bengal government in 2021.
