India Clinch 4th Asian Champions Trophy Title with Win over Malaysia

Chennai: The Indian men’s hockey team won the Asian Champions Trophy 2023, defeating Malaysia 4-3 in a thrilling final. This is India’s fourth title in the tournament, making them the most successful team in the tournament’s history.

India started the match well and took an early lead through Jugraj Singh. However, Malaysia equalized through Azrai before scoring two more goals to take a 3-1 lead at halftime.

India came out firing in the second half and scored two goals to level the score. The winning goal came from Akashdeep Singh in the 56th minute.

Hockey India announced well-deserved cash awards in recognition of the team’s exceptional performance. Each member of the Indian men’s hockey team will receive a cash prize of Rs 3.00 lakhs, while the Support Staff will be awarded Rs 1.50 lakhs.

Hockey India President Dr Dilip Tirkey congratulated the team on their victory. He said that the win is a testament to the team’s dedication and teamwork. He also said that the awards will inspire the players as they prepare for the forthcoming Asian Games.

The Young Player of the Match was Karthi Selvam, while the Hero Player of the Match was Hardik Singh.
