India’s Record Breaking ODI Win; Kohli, Gill & Siraj help India Slam Sri Lanka by 317 Runs

Thiruvananthapuram: India defeated Sri Lanka by 317 runs in the third ODI. It was a historic win for India as it will go down in record books as the biggest margin of win in the history of ODI cricket. The highlight of this match was Mohammed Siraj’s 4 wickets in a stunning spell. Virat Kohli’s 166 not out and Shubman Gill’s 116 gave India 390 on the board.

After coming up with this massive score, India bowled out Sri Lanka (73 for 9) in just 22 overs. With it, Team India completed a 3-0 sweep of the ODI series.

India’s 317-run margin of win is the highest in ODI cricket. India broke New Zealand’s record made in 2008. In that match, the Black Caps sealed a 290-run win against Ireland Aberdeen after posting 403 on the board. India’s previous best was a 257-run win against Bermuda in the 2007 World Cup.

In this match Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most ODI hundreds at home, hitting his 21st hundred in home turfs.  With ten centuries in ODIs against Sri Lanka, the former skipper also set a new world record for the most hundreds against any opposition in ODIs.
