During Scott Boland’s over, Gill edged the ball, which flew towards Cameron Green positioned at gully. Displaying impressive reflexes, Green made a remarkable one-handed catch, diving to his left. However, as he hit the ground, the ball briefly made contact with it due to the force of the impact.

Gill, however, refused to leave the crease and the umpires decided to review the catch. The replays showed Green diving to his left, using his left hand to catch the ball. Although the camera angle from the front wasn’t ideal, after careful examination, the third umpire concluded that the fielder’s fingers were underneath the ball, indicating a clean catch.

The big screen promptly displayed “OUT,” and Gill was dismissed. Indian batsman Rohit Sharma appeared visibly upset and engaged in a discussion with the field umpires, but the decision stood. Following Gill’s wicket, India managed to add 41 runs before Tea, leaving them with a challenging target of 403 runs for victory.

As the match progressed, it became apparent to many that achieving victory would be a difficult feat for India. Their primary objective now shifted to preserving their wickets and aiming for a draw in the game. Meanwhile, on social media platform Twitter, numerous netizens voiced their dissatisfaction, labelling the decision as unfair.
