Uddhav Thackeray Promised to Make Devendra Fadnavis CM, But Broke His Word: Amit Shah

Nanded (Maharashtra): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday, made strong allegations against Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), accusing him of betraying the BJP after the Maharashtra assembly elections in 2019.

During a rally in Nanded as part of the BJP’s outreach campaign, Shah emphasized that the BJP did not bring down the Thackeray-led MVA government the previous year. He stated that it was Shiv Sainiks who were dissatisfied with Thackeray’s policies and were unwilling to align with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Sharad Pawar.

Shah further mentioned that negotiations were conducted by him, as the BJP president at the time, and the then chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. According to Shah, Thackeray had agreed that if the NDA emerged victorious, Fadnavis would once again assume the role of chief minister. However, Thackeray broke this promise after the election results in 2019 and formed an alliance with the NCP.

In the 2019 assembly polls, the Shiv Sena (Undivided) and the BJP contested together, but the alliance dissolved due to disagreements over the chief ministerial position.
