School HM Nabbed While Accepting Bribe in Bargarh Dist

Bargarh: The headmaster of a government high school was caught redhanded by the officials of the Odisha Vigilance officials in Bargarh district on Monday, while he was accepting Rs 14,000 bribe from a self-help group (SHG) functionary to release payment for cleaning work performed in the school.

The accused was identified as Balamukunda Padhan, posted as the headmaster of Kushanpuri High School in Bargarh.

He was apprehended by Vigilance sleuths while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 14,000/- from a functionary of a local SHG to process file for release of payment in their favour towards cleaning and night watch duty of the school, stated an official release.

The entire marked bribe money was recovered from the possession of accused.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches were conducted at two locations linked to Pradhan from DA angle.

A case under section 7 of the PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and further investigation is in progress.
