1 Dead 7 Injured as Molten Iron Falls on Workers at a Steel Plant in Jajpur

Bhubaneswar: A labourer was killed and seven others were seriously injured when molten iron reportedly fell on them at the Maithan Steel Plant in the Kalinganagar area of Jajpur district, at late night on Thursday.

The deceased was Nitin Kumar of Uttar Pradesh. The injured ones were admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

According to reports, this mishap occurred while the molten iron was being shifted by a crane. One of the workers died on the spot while seven others sustained severe born injuries.

All victims were contractual labourers. They were engaged in the steel plant by a labour firm named Maa Tarini Enterprises.

Police have started an investigation into the incident.
