Female Sarpanch Found Hanging in Jajpur District

Jajpur: A female sarpanch allegedly ended her life by hanging in her house in Odisha’s Jajpur district.

The deceased identified as Sipalata Mallick was the sarpanch of Jenapur panchayat. Her family members found her hanging in her house at Dalitsahi under Jenapur police station limits on Thursday morning.

Sipalata’s husband Sukadev Mallick informed about her suicide to her brother Bholanath Mallick, who reported about it to the police.

The police have seized the body for postmortem. Police are investigating the reason for which the sarpanch took this drastic step. Sipalata was elected as sarpanch in 2022 panchayat polls. She is survived by a son and a daughter.
