17-Yr-Old JEE aspirant Ends Life in Kota, 18th Suicide this Yr

Kota: A 17-year-old JEE aspirant allegedly committed suicide in his hostel room in Kota. It was the second student suicide in 48 hours at this coaching hub.

The boy’s body was found in the Mahaveer Nagar area on Friday night. This is the eighteenth reported case of suspected suicide coaching students in Kota this year.

The recent victim was a class 12 student from Bihar. He came to Kota in March this year.

The reason behind the alleged suicide is yet to be ascertained, the DSP said, adding that no suicide note was recovered from his room.

On Thursday, 18-year-old Manjot Singh from Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur, who was preparing for medical entrance exams, committed suicide in Rajasthan’s Kota. He had come to Kota in April this year and got admitted to a coaching centre to prepare for NEET.

His body was found hanging from a fan in his hostel room on Thursday morning.

Kota in Rajasthan is famous for its coaching centres. More than 2.25 lakh students are estimated to be admitted in various coaching centres Kota in the current academic year to crack medical and engineering entrance exams.

In May alone, as many as five students committed suicide in Kota.
