Alleging Involvement in Ganja Smuggling Angry Mob Torches Phiringia Police Station in Kandhamal

Phulbani: An angry mob torched the Phiringia police station in Kandhamal district on Saturday alleging that personnel of the police station were involved in illegal ganja trade.

For the past few days, the locals of Phiringia were demanding action against the cops at the police station. They demanded strict against the IIC of the police station and his 2 associates.

On Aug 3, it was allegedly found that marijuana was being smuggled by a vehicle of the Phiringia police station. A video clip of it went viral on social media.

Some locals had brought it to the notice of the Kandhamal SP. It is alleged that no action was initiated, which irked the people.

On Saturday, some people staged a road blockade at Phiringia in relation to the issue. There was a scuffle when police personnel tried to remove the road blockade.

Following it, the angry mob broke into the Phiringia police station and set it on fire.
