2 More Sluice Gates of Hirakud Dam Opened, Floodwater Release by 24 Gates

Sambalpur: Two more sluice gates of the Hirakud Dam were opened on Saturday to release the excess floodwater entering the reservoir of the hydel project.

Now excess water from the reservoir is being released through 24 gates of the Hirakud Dam. .

According to Hirakud Dam authorities, out of the open sluice gates, 16 gates are open on the left side of the dam while eight gates on the right side are also open.

Continuous rains in the upper catchment area of the Mahanadi river has prompted the Hirakud Dam authorities to open more gates to maintain water level in the reservoir.
