3 More Sluice Gates of Hirakud Dam Opened, Floodwater Being Released by 10 Gates

Sambalpur: Three more sluice gates of the Hirakud Dam were opened up to release the excess flood water entering the reservoir due to heavy rain in the upper catchment area of the Mahanadi river.

Now floodwater is being discharged through 10 gates of the Hirakud Dam. Out of them, seven open gates are on the left and three others are on the right side.

The water level of the reservoir was at 629.65 ft on Saturday against its full capacity of 630 feet. On Friday, the water level of the reservoir touched 630 ft and extra water was released through seven gates.
