Doctor Gets Life Imprisonment for Murder Over Illicit Affair in Ganjam Dist

Berhampur: The Ganjam Additional District Judge (ADJ) court in Odisha sentenced a doctor named Hrushikesh Tripathy to life imprisonment for the murder of a private bank agent in 2018 over an illicit affair.

The Ganjam Additional District Judge (ADJ)-3 Raj Kumar Das also imposed a penalty of Rs 10 lakh on the convict.

Two aides of the doctor in the murder case were awarded two years of imprisonment.

On September 4, 2018, the doctor had murdered Bishnu Prasad Gouda (45). At that time Dr Tripathy was posted at a hospital in Chhatrapur of Ganjam district.

Gouda was earlier working in the private clinic of Dr Tripathy at the Goilundi area in Berhampur. He was reportedly having a relationship with a nurse at the clinic. The doctor was also attracted to the nurse. Because of this, a dispute arose between Gouda and Tripathy, and Gouda left his job at Dr Tripathy’s clinic to work as an agent of a private bank.

Gouda continued his relations with the nurse, because of which Dr Tripathy murdered him in his clinic. The doctor made Gouda unconscious by giving an anaesthesia injection, and then he chopped his body into pieces.

Dr Tripathy buried the body pieces of Gouda at Badagumula village and constructed a toilet on the burial place to destroy the evidence.

Acting on a missing complaint lodged by Gouda’s family, the police unearthed the murder and arrested Dr Tripathy and two others in connection with the case.
