Manipur Violence: Police Commando Killed, 5 Injured In Gun Battle With Militants

Imphal: One police commando was killed and five others were injured in a gun battle with miscreants in Manipur’s Tronglaobi Bishnupur district on Thursday. The police suspect the involvement of militant groups behind the attack. The incident took place in the morning when the Manipur State Police Commandos received information that a few miscreants were hiding in a hill area. According to reports, when the police reached the spot, they were fired upon by the miscreants. However, the casualty cases are yet to be confirmed by the police.

This is the second such incident in Manipur, where security forces were targeted in the last two days. On Wednesday, an Assam Rifles jawan was injured when a column of the paramilitary force on area domination was fired upon by armed miscreants in Manipur East’s Dolaithabi. The personnel was rushed to a hospital, and the miscreants fled from the spot.

Manipur Police has sent reinforcements to the area to nab the attackers. The incidents of violence have raised concerns over the security situation in Manipur, which has a history of ethnic violence and militancy. The state government has assured that it will take all necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of the people.
