Lightning Kills Man in Chilika Lake, 3rd Lightning Death in Chilika in 36 Hrs

Balugaon: Lightning hit a fishing boat in Chilika lake killing one person and injuring four others. It was the third death in Chilika lake in 24 hours.

The ill-fated fishing boat had five fishermen from Bada Bahania sahi of  Patpur under Tangi police limits. When a bolt of lightning struck the boat, one of them named Maga Behera died on the spot while four others were seriously injured.

On Sunday, a man and his son died when lightning struck their fishing boat in Chilika lake. Their bodies were recovered near Kalijugeswar hills near Balugoan in Khurda district.

The son had become a father of a baby girl just a day back. He and his father were travelling back home to see the newborn.

When they did not return back in time, locals searched for them and found the bodies in a boat near the hills.
