Lightning Kills Youth, Injures Sister In Kandhamal

Phulbani: A youth died and his sister was seriously injured when lightning struck them in a forest near Subarnagiri village under Kotagarh police station limits in Kandhamal district on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Mukesh Pradhani.

Mukesh and his sister Supriya along with some others had gone to a forest near Subarnagiri village to collect mahua flowers. Suddenly heavy rain accompanied by lightning occurred in the area.

Mukesh and Supriya took shelter under a tree that was struck by lightning. Mukesh died on the spot. Supriya was seriously injured, while others had a lucky escape. Supriya was admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
