Lok Sabha Speaker Reprimands BJP MP for Anti-Muslim Remarks Against Colleague

New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Friday expressed displeasure over the anti-Muslim remarks made by BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri against BSP member Danish Ali in Parliament.

According to India Today, the Speaker warned the BJP MP for his anti-Muslim slur and asked him to maintain the dignity of his language.

During the discussion on the Chandrayaan-3 mission, the BJP MP Bidhuri made objectionable anti-Muslim remarks against the BSP MP in the Lok Sabha.

The Speaker has ordered to expunge the objectionable remarks made by Bidhuri.  Bidhuri represents South Delhi in Lok Sabha. It was seen that other BJP MPs including former union minister Harsh Vardhan were laughing when Bidhuri was making derogatory remarks against Danish Ali.

Opposition leaders slammed the BJP leader’s derogatory remark in Parliament and demanded action against him.

National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah hit out at the Lok Sabha Speaker for not taking action against Bidhuri. “Opposition MPs have been suspended for trivial offences and here outright abuse is condoned,” Abdullah wrote on X.

Congress MP Jairam Ramesh condemned the remarks made by Bidhuri and said despite an apology from Rajnath Singh, it was still “insufficient”.
