Manipur Violence: CBI Nabs Mastermind Behind 2 Missing Students from Pune

New Delhi: A 22-year-old youth suspected to be the mastermind behind the case of two missing Manipuri students was arrested by the CBI from Pune. The two missing Manipuri students are believed to have been killed.

The arrested youth identified as Paolunmang from Pune was tracked down by a special investigation team of the CBI on Wednesday. He was transported to Guwahati to be produced before a court. He has been sent to the CBI custody till October 16 by the court.

In relation to this case, the CBI earlier arrested two men, Paominlun Haokip and Smalsawm Haokip, and two women, Lhingneichong Baitekuki and Tinneilhing Henthang, on October 1.

Phijam Hemanjit (20) and Hijam Linthoingambi, a girl aged 17 years, had gone missing on July 6. Photos purportedly showing their bodies surfaced on September 25, leading to violent protests in Manipur.
