Mobile Internet Stopped in Haryana’s Communal Tension Prone Nuh Following Cong MLA’s Arrest

New Delhi: Mobile internet was suspended in Haryana’s communal tension-prone Nuh district from Friday 10 am to Saturday 11.59 pm to check the escalation of tension following the arrest of a Congress MLA.

Restrictions under Section 144 were also imposed in Nuh and people were requested to offer their Friday prayers at their homes.

The suspension of the mobile internet coincides with Congress MLA Mamman Khan’s arrest for his alleged involvement in Nuh violence that took place on July 31.

“In order to stop the spread of misinformation and rumours through various social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter etc, on mobile phones and SMA, for facilation and mobilisation of mobs or agitators and demonstrators who can cause serious loss of life and damage to public and private properties by indulging in arson, vandalism and other type of violent activities,” the order of the Nuh district administration read.

The communal violence in Nuh on July 31 affected several districts of Haryana including Gurugram. Six people, including two policemen, were killed in the violence and 88 others were injured.
