Ollywood Actor Arindam Roy Quits BJD, Citing Lack of Recognition

Bhubaneswar: In a surprising turn of events, Ollywood actor Arindam Roy has tendered his resignation from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today, citing a lack of recognition for his efforts within the party.

Roy had been associated with the BJD since 2009. However, in his resignation letter addressed to BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik, Roy expressed disillusionment with the party’s leadership.

In the letter, Roy lamented that despite his extensive work at the grassroots level as an observer in various elections, his efforts had not been duly acknowledged by Patnaik or other party members appointed by him. Furthermore, Roy stated that despite repeated attempts, he had been unable to secure a meeting with Naveen Patnaik.

“I have been working in your Party since 2009, and have been the Star Campaigner of your party since 2014. I have been working at the ground level as observer in various elections in Cuttack, Tirtol, Tirtol by elections, Koraput (Zilla Parishad & Municipalty elections). But with a heavy heart I am very sorry to say that my work has not yet been recognized by you or your appointed members,” Roy wrote in his resignation letter.

“I have been trying to meet my leader which is you since quite some time, but unfortunately I did not get the opportunity to meet you,” Roy added.

The actor also held the position of General Secretary within the party.

Roy’s departure from the BJD marks a significant development within the party, as he had been regarded as a prominent figure and had actively participated in various party activities.

However, his decision to resign underscores growing discontent within the ranks of the BJD.
