Opposition Unity Meet in Patna on June 23, Declares JDU

Patna: The JDU confirmed that the much-awaited Opposition unity meeting of non-NDA opposition party leaders will be held on June 23 in Patna. The national president of the JDU Rajiv Ranjan Singh confirmed the date.

Speaking to newsmen on Thursday, Singh said, all like-minded Opposition parties have consented to attend this meeting, where a joint strategy regarding the unified fight against the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls will be chalked out.

According to the JDU president, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, Uddhav Thackeray, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, Left leaders, D Raja, Sitaram Yechuri and Dipankar Bhattacharya, have agreed to attend the meet.

Earlier this meeting was to be held on June 12. A new date was announced following a request from the Congress and the DMK. Rahul Gandhi is currently in the US and will return to India after June 15.

TMC chief Mamta Banerjee had requested Bihar CM Nitish Kumar to hold an Opposition unity meeting in Patna. Nitish Kumar is spearheading efforts to unite opposition parties to give a proper fight to the BJP led NDA in the 2024 LS polls.
