Pune Sub-Inspector Wins Rs 1.5 Cr in Online Gaming, Suspended by Authorities

Pune: A sub-inspector of Pune Police won Rs 1.5 crore in the online game Dream11. But the police authorities took action against him on charges of misconduct and tarnishing the image of the police department.

Playing the popular online game Dream 11, the sub-inspector, Somnath Jhende won a hefty amount. When his win spread around, authorities of Pimpri-Chinchwad police ordered an investigation into the matter.

Departmental inquiry revealed that Jhende had played the online game without permission and had reportedly given media interviews wearing his police uniform. So, he was he was suspended from duty.
