Rs 10.5 Cr Worth Illegal Opium Plantation Destroyed in Similipal

Baripada: An illegal opium plantation worth Rs. 10.5 crore was destroyed by the authorities in the Similipal area in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha.

It was the fourth major raid against illegal opium plantations in the Simlipal sanctuary.

A team of Excise department staff along with Karanjia additional Tehsildar seized the opium plants worth 10 crores and 50 lakhs. After the seizure, the Excise department staff destroyed opium plants.

The illegal opium plantation was taken up over a patch of 15 acres of land near the Sarada village in the core area of Simlipal sanctuary.
