Sexual Harassment of School Girl, Ex-HM Gets Jail Sentence in Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: A retired headmaster was sentenced to three years imprisonment by a special POCSO court on Wednesday for sexually harassing a girl student in Kalahandi district of Odisha in 2019.

The special POCSO Judge also imposed a penalty of Rs 40,000 on convict Sarbeswar Mishra. Non-payment of the penalty amount would invite imprisonment for addition two months. The POCSO court ordered the Kalahandi administration to provide Rs 1.50 lakh compensation to the victim.

As per the chargesheet, the convict Sarbeswar Mishra (63) had sexually harassed the schoolgirl while he was posted the headmaster of a school in 2019.

The father of the victim had lodged a complaint against the headmaster at Kesinga police station.
