IPL 2024, SRH vs MI: Sunrisers Hyderabad Record Highest Ever IPL Total With Mammoth 277/3

Hyderabad: Sunrisers Hyderabad batters wreaked havoc on Mumbai Indians, setting a new record for the highest innings total in Indian Premier League history. SRH posted a mammoth 277/3 in 20 overs in Hyderabad, surpassing RCB’s previous record of 263/5 set against the now-defunct Pune Warriors India in 2013.

Mumbai Indians found themselves outdone as SRH’s aggressive batting lineup tore through their game plan. Despite potentially reserving Jasprit Bumrah to counter Heinrich Klaasen, the debutant Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma dominated the first 10 overs, with Head reaching his half-century in just 18 balls and Sharma outpacing him with a 16-ball fifty.

Debutant South African pacer Kwena Maphaka suffered a tough night, conceding 66 runs in his four overs, while Bumrah emerged as the lone MI bowler to maintain control despite remaining wicketless.

Head’s explosive 62 off 24 balls and Abhishek’s aggressive 63 off 23 balls set the stage for Klaasen, who remained unbeaten on 80 off 34 deliveries, as SRH finished with a colossal total.

This match marked SRH’s comeback after a narrow defeat in the opening game, where they fell short by four runs in a 209-run chase, with Klaasen smashing 63 off 29 balls. Meanwhile, MI also suffered a defeat in their opener against Gujarat Titans.
