Tension Escalates in Athgarh Following Youth’s Death in Group Clash

Cuttack: A youth died when some miscreants when he was run over by a tractor by rivals during a group clash at Talagarh village under Athagarh’s Kuleilo panchayat in Cuttack district on Wednesday night.

The deceased identified as Sushant Rana hailed from the Radhakrushnapur village near Athagarh. Seriously injured Rana was rushed to the Dhenkanal Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Tension erupted in the area following Rana’s death. Angry villagers and family members Rana from Radhakrushnapur village set the property of the alleged accused persons on fire.

According to sources, the properties gutted in this arson included a poultry farm, one tractor, a car and two bikes.

The angry villagers blocked the road and did not allow the fire fighters douse the blaze.

Following a complaint lodged at the Khuntuni police station, police have taken three persons into custody for investigation.

One platoon of police force was deployed in the area to check escalation of tension.
