3 Jawans Martyred, 3 Injured As Terrorists Attack Army Vehicles in J&K’s Poonch

Poonch (J&K): In a brazen act of terror, three Indian Army soldiers were martyred and three others injured in a dastardly ambush by militants in Poonch district on Thursday afternoon. The targeted vehicles were transporting soldiers involved in an ongoing anti-terrorism operation near Bufliaz, initiated on Wednesday night.

The attack took place in the Savni area on the Rajouri-Thanamandi-Surankote road around 3:45 PM, where terrorists fired upon the convoy, comprising a truck and a Gypsy. The injured soldiers have been promptly evacuated, and additional forces have been deployed to the area. Further details are awaited as the situation unfolds.

The incident follows a recent explosion within the compound of an armed police unit in Poonch district. Occurring on the night of December 19 and 20 in the Surankote area, the blast damaged windows of nearby parked vehicles. Authorities are actively investigating these unsettling events.

Responding to the ambush, a joint operation was launched based on reliable intelligence, establishing contact with the assailants this evening. An ongoing encounter is underway, and more information is being gathered, according to a statement from the defence PRO.
