World Champion Neeraj Chopra Finishes Second in Zurich Diamond League

Neeraj Chopra finished second with a final round throw of 85.71m in the men’s javelin event of the Diamond League Meeting here on Thursday night.

The reigning Olympic champion, who recently won gold in the World Athletics Championships in Budapest finished behind Jakub Vadlejch (85.86m) of Czech Republic, who had won a bronze in the World Championships.

He however qualified for the Diamond League finals to be held on September 17 in Eugene, US. He had won the Diamond League trophy last year.

“For me, the focus was just to stay healthy and to give my 100% in my next competitions. Sometimes we need to read our bodies. Today, I feel OK, I am 100 percent OK, but I didn’t push too much. Sometimes, our number one goal is to stay healthy. Today I gave it my best, but still with the focus to stay healthy,” Neeraj said, as quoted by Diamond League.
