China Bans Use of Intel, AMD Processors in Govt Computers

China has introduced new guidelines that will phase out the use of U.S. microprocessors of Intel and AMD in government personal computers and servers, reported the Financial Times.

According to the report, the guideline is directs sidelining Windows operating system and foreign-made database software in the favour of Chinese options.

The latest move signals Communist China’s initiative to promote its indigenous technology as tension with the US has intensified.

The US has imposed sanctions on numerous Chinese firms on national security grounds and blocked exports of advanced chips and related tools to Beijing.
