On February 27, the deceased’s father, Pradeep Mittal, filed a missing person’s case with the Greater Noida Police, when he suddenly vanished from his university campus on February 25. Investigation revealed that four men including Rachit had strangled Yash to death and buried his body in a pit around six feet deep.

After the murder, the four accused sent a message to Yash’s family using the victim’s mobile phone seeking a ransom of Rs 6 crore with the aim of misleading the police.

It has come to light that Yash had befriended four boys residing in Gajraula – Rachit, Shubham, Sushant and Sumit. They used to party frequently.

On February 26, the four men called Yash to a party, where everyone got drunk. Inebriated Yash got into an argument with the four men, and they all strangled him to death.
