Kerala Man Arrested for Allegedly Beating 2-Year-Old Daughter to Death

Malappuram: A man in Kerala’s Malappuram district was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly beating his two-and-a-half-year-old daughter to death. The incident has triggered outrage, with police investigating the motive behind the brutal assault.

According to an officer from the Kalikavu police station, the man has been charged with murder (Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code) and cruelty to child (Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act). The officer informed that the man will be presented in court and police will seek his custody.

A medical examination revealed the child suffered horrific injuries, including seven broken ribs and brain bleeding, consistent with physical abuse. The police also reported numerous external injuries, both new and old, on the child’s body.

The exact reason for the assault remains unclear. The man was detained on Monday after the child’s family raised suspicions about her death.

The father reportedly brought the child to a Wandoor hospital on Sunday, claiming she choked on food. However, doctors were unable to save her. The family’s concerns about the child’s death led to the man’s arrest.

Media reports suggest there were marital problems between the man and the child’s mother, who had previously filed a complaint against him.
