17 Killed, Dozens Hurt In Deadly Russian Missile Attack In Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia

Kyiv: As many as 17 people have been killed in overnight Russian missile attacks in the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia.

According to Ukrainian officials, the city was struck by rockets overnight, and at least five private houses were destroyed and 40 buildings were damaged.

The strike came after a Russian fuel tank was set ablaze on the Kerch bridge in Crimea on Saturday.

An investigative committee has been constituted and a criminal case was initiated shortly after a truck caught fire on the Crimean Bridge. The traffic on the road-rail route was suspended.

Zaporizhzhia has been repeatedly hit in recent weeks and is in a Ukraine-controlled part of a region that Russian President Vladimir Putin annexed in violation of international law last week.

Tightening security for the bridge and for energy infrastructure between Crimea and Russia, President Putin signed a decree late Saturday and put Russia’s federal security service, the FSB, in charge of the effort.
