Supreme Court’s Vacation Benches to Conduct Hybrid Mode Hearings During Summer Break

New Delhi: Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, announced that the Supreme Court’s Vacation Benches will conduct hybrid mode hearings during the summer vacation. The Vacation Benches will hear fresh matters, including urgent cases, from May 22 to July 2. Lawyers can appear physically or through video conferences from various locations.

The CJI expressed gratitude to the judges sitting on the vacation benches for willingly taking up fresh matters during the vacation period. He also mentioned that more than 300 fresh matters will be listed before the Vacation Benches.

In a notification issued on May 5, the Supreme Court outlined the specific Benches scheduled for each period of the vacation. The Registry will remain open during the vacation period to ensure the smooth functioning of the court.

The hybrid mode of hearings during the summer vacation aims to provide accessibility and convenience for lawyers while maintaining the judicial process. Lawyers can argue from different locations, provided they adhere to proper attire and decorum. The Vacation Benches are prepared to address urgent matters and deliver timely justice during this period.
